Home Learning wb 6.7

Home Learning wb 6.7.20

I can't believe we are in week 13 of home learning! You have all been superb learners throughout this term and continue to be so motivated with all your home learning. Mrs Hogg and I really are SO proud.

We will continue this week with our 'Up Up and Away' unit of work, however there are a few differences with the weeks home learning. This week we will focus upon transition in preparation for starting in our new classes when we return to school in September. There is also some information regarding our Virtual sports day which is set to happen on Tuesday!

Have a good look through the learning Otters and give it your best go!

Transition Home Learning

Parents and Carers received a text message from Greenside on Friday to inform you that this week’s home learning will be based on transition. We have set up a special page on the school website for you to access. Click on the ‘children tab’ on the menu bar then select ‘class pages’ from the drop-down menu list. At the bottom of the class pages list you can access a new folder with the Greenside logo ‘Transition Home Learning – WB 06.07.2020’. The home learning project will focus on researching your class animal and country and sharing some information about yourself with your new class teacher so that they can get to know you even better. Please look at the page for further details.

The Yorkshire Sports Foundation's Virtual Sports Day

We are pleased to announce that on Tuesday 7th July, the Yorkshire Sport foundation are hosting a virtual sports day which Greenside will be participating in. The day will involve multiple activities that can be done at home or in school and can take the place of the traditional ‘Sports Day’ that will be very much missed! Both the children in school and at home will be able to compete against each other and other schools across the county and be part of something big. We believe there are also prizes on offer! Please look carefully at the wy-virtual-school-games-sports-day pdf saved in this week’s resources on your class page. This document contains all the information you will need to take part and complete the events at home. At the bottom of the pdf document, you will see a link to a google form. This is where your results will be recorded. Please fill in accordingly and once completed, send to our tier group email address. We can't wait to see how you get on!

This information is also available on the PE and Sport Blog page within the Children section of the school website. If there are any issues please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Creative Time

We are now in week five of our topic, ‘Up, Up and Away’ and for the remaining 2 weeks we will continue to focus on the Geography element of the topic for week looking at mapping skills and simple compass directions. This could be through exploring our local area, Yorkshire, England, UK or the rest of the world. Although ideas are given for many other subject areas too, please try to complete at least one Geography activity from the list or from your own ideas as part of the project, as this is our key skill focus. As explained previously, our creative time activities now have a project style approach, giving you more chance to choose the learning that interests you and really show off what you can do. Please see the document attached for lots of ideas you could choose from. Please keep using our tier group email address to tell/show us what you have done each week for your ‘Up, Up and Away’ project! We have loved seeing everything that you have shared with us so far!
