Homework

16th October 2020

Half term is on the horizon - 1 week left to go! The children have, again, been superb this week: they're trying their best with all of their learning and other members of staff have commented on how settled, mature and kind they are! Mrs Hodgson and I hope you all have a lovely weekend and thank you again for your continued support with everything in school!

Spelling: I've assigned a new list on Spelling Shed focused on the /j/ sound spelled -dge. Please encourage then to log on and have a go. A downloadable paper activity is also available.

Maths: We're finally finished Place Value and are moving on to Addition and Subtraction. I have unlocked these activities on Mathletics for the children to work through. I have also added a paper version of one of the areas we have been focusing on: fact families (Maya's mum joined our lesson this morning via Zoom and is now a pro with these if anyone needs any support).

Reading: We are currently able to change books on a Monday. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we are only able to change home reader books on this day and not twice a week as we have done previously. Once the children have read this book, please log them onto Bug Club to read another at their appropriate level; alternatively read a book you have at home and write a comment with what book they have read and how they've got on.

9th October 2020

The children have had a superb first week back in school. They have all settled back into routines effortlessly, are enthusiastic to learn and are happy to be back with their friends! We are so proud of them.
I'd also like to say a huge thank you to all you parents and carers for supporting the children with their home learning, countless zooms and patience. You have all been amazing!

Homework this week is the following:

Spelling

I have set the children a list to have a go at. This is focusing on some of our Year 2 Common Exception Words. I have also added a paper copy of this if you would prefer your child to do a written homework instead.

Maths

This week, we have been learning how to count in 3s. Mrs Hodgson and I were absolutely blown away with how quickly they have picked this up! So, to consolidate this learning we would like the children to log on to Times Table Rock Stars where I have added the 3 times table to their accounts to have a go at. Again, I have added a printable PDF task if you prefer written homework.

Reading

I have allocated the children's book bands and set some books on Bug Club. Please encourage your child to log on and have a read!
