WB 18.05.20 Week 7

Home Learning - Week Beginning 18.05.2020

Hello Adventurous Anacondas! Welcome to Week 7 of Home Learning. We hope that you all enjoyed the weekend and are ready for the week ahead. It's Science Week this week and we know how much you all love Science! We also have Maths, English and Music planned. Read on to find out more about your learning. As always, do what you can and continue to find time to relax, be creative and active. We love hearing from you so keep sending us emails of how you're getting on. Stay safe and missing you all, Mr Khan, Miss Brooks and Miss Brown

English

This week's English writing task is linked to our Anglo-Saxons topic. The Anglo-Saxons were famous for their imaginative stories with mythical beasts, gods and superhuman characters. The story of Beowulf is the most famous of all and is over 1,000 years old! Whilst the author of Beowulf is unknown, we would like you to become authors yourselves by rewriting this timeless legend. Read the document below to find out more about the different tasks you should complete before rewriting the story of Beowulf. You will also find details about this week's Spelling Shed and Bug Club activities in the document and as always, please continue to read your favourite books at home too!

Year 3 Maths

Year 3 will be recapping addition and subtraction using written methods. You may remember we covered this in the Autumn term so hopefully you can get through this without much difficulty. Please find the links to videos in the first document, with the worksheets and answers below. Once you have completed the lessons, login into Mathletics to complete the assigned activities and don't forget to practise your times tables on TTRS too!

A big shoutout to Sophie M, Isobel and Mia for completing all assigned Mathletics activities - well done!

Year 4 Maths

Year 4 will be recapping fractions. For lesson 1, watch the video below and complete the worksheet as you have already covered the first lesson on the White Rose website a few weeks ago. For the remaining lessons, use the White Rose Maths videos on their website and the worksheets and answers below.

Once you have completed the lessons, login into Mathletics to complete the assigned activities and don't forget to practise your times tables on TTRS too!

A big shoutout to Annie, Penny, Frances and Halle for completing all assigned Mathletics activities - well done!

Science

As this week is Science Week, you will be learning all about forces and magnets! The learning planned for you begins with some research about our new science topic and gives you the chance to present your findings in an exciting and creative way. You will then explore household objects that you can push or pull and that are magnetic, as well as the small experiments and creative tasks outlined in the document below. We hope the budding scientists within you enjoy this week's learning!

Music

Our Music this week is based on our wonderful Anglo-Saxons topic. We have found a great song for you to listen and learn. We would then like you to get your creative juices flowing and find something around the house to make music in time to the beat with. If you learn the song and manage to add music to it, you might even be brave enough to take a video! We would love to see videos of you singing the song, or playing music to it, so please send them in.

Fancy learning more about music? Mrs Percival has created a fantastic Music webpage on the school website with lots of amazing songs and links to resources, so follow the link below!
