WB 29.06.20 Week 12

Home Learning - Week Beginning 29.06.2020

Hello Anacondas and welcome to Week 12 of Home Learning! It was lovely to see so many of you in our Zoom call last week. We're looking forward to seeing you all again virtually on Thursday for next class call.

As mentioned in our Zoom call, for next two weeks we'll be battling it out in the final against the Creative Caimans for the TTRS trophy. Try to play everyday to win lots of points and make us the Greenside champions! Further details on how to do this are below in the Maths section.

As always, please continue to send us an email update as it's great to hear what you've been upto. Enjoy your learning, work hard and continue to be kind! Mr Khan, Ms Brooks and Miss Brown

English

This week's writing task is linked to our topic learning. In History this week, you'll be learning about Anglo-Saxon clothing. You may wish to complete the History research and Activity 1 first, so that you're able to draw on this knowledge when completing your writing. Work your way through the activities in the document below, which lead up to writing a balanced argument: Should we wear Modern-Day or Anglo-Saxon clothes? As well as this, we would like you to log on to Spelling Shed to practise this week's spellings, read a book on Bug Club and complete the Reading Comprehension - 60 Second Reads, and as always, remember to read your favourite stories at home too!

Year 3 Maths

Year 3 will be learning about measures and shapes this week. Please follow the link to the White Rose Maths website below for the teaching videos, with the worksheets and answers below. Once you have completed the lessons, login into Mathletics to complete the assigned activities.

Remember to log onto TTRS to earn as many points towards our class battle. Playing in Garage will earn 3 coins per correct answer, whilst the Soundcheck earns 5 coins per correct answer. This is specifically designed to mirror the Year 4 times table test.

Remember to use the BBC Bitesize resources which align directly with this week's learning if you need any additional practise.

Year 4 Maths

Year 4 will be learning about data and reading different types of graphs.

If you need any additional practise with this week's learning, please use the BBC Bitesize resources.

History

The History learning this week continues with our Anglo-Saxon topic where you will be finding out more information about what the Anglo-Saxons wore. Once you've completed some research and found out more about Anglo-Saxon dress and what their clothes were made from, have a go at the activities in the document below. You'll be drawing out your own family as Anglo-Saxons (wearing typical Anglo-Saxon clothes) and have the opportunity to dye some materials just as the Anglo-Saxons did by using natural produce (fruits and vegetables).

Art

This week's Art learning will focus on Anglo-Saxon runes. You will investigate the Anglo-Saxon alphabet, make comparisons between their letters and ours, and create your own secret message. The final activity for this week will be to present your secret message in a creative way. Whether this is by aiming to make it look like an original Anglo-Saxon message or by showcasing it in a bright and modern way, the style is up to you! Once you have completed your secret message, why not see if your parents or siblings can work out what you've written? Use the documents below to help you with these activities.
