Week beginning 22nd February
Monday - Topic
This week, we are going to begin our new geography based topic 'Our Home, the United Kingdom'. Read the first document and complete the short tasks, then spend some time labelling the map with significant countries, cities (including capital cities) and seas/oceans - you may wish to use an atlas or an online map to help you.
The second document is about counties in England. Read the information and use the the map to help you answer the questions.
Have a go at the map puzzles on the link below.
Tuesday - RE
This week in RE, we are going to look at confession and why Christians believe that the act of confession help's them to receive God's forgiveness. This is mainly a research lesson. There is a guideline sheet provided if you would like to use it to make notes. You will need to keep the information that you gather for next week's lesson as you are going to eventually create a guide to confession.
Wednesday - Computing
This half term we are going to be doing some coding, using an online tool called Espresso Coding. Follow the link below to Discovery Experience and log in. Everybody has been set up with their own log in, these are the same as your Mathletics/TTRS Username and Password. Once you have successfully logged in, your assignments should appear at the top of the screen, complete these. They should include a learning video and step by step activities, they may start off simple but will get trickier each week. Work your way through the activities as they appear, left to right underneath your assignments and click 'Completed' once you've finished each one. Once you get to the end, you may wish to use the program to create your own 'app' using the blocks you've learnt about.
Wednesday - Music
Use the link below, which will take you to Charanga Yuma, where you will find the music work for this half term. You will need to log in - your class teacher will have set this up for you and will be able to give you your log in details, please ask! *All classes - your login for this and password have been set up so they are the same as your Mathletics/TTRS details.*
Click on the assignments and 'You've got a Friend - Step 1', this will launch your lesson for today. Work your way through the activities on the right where you can listen to and appraise the song, have a go at clapping or moving along to the rhythm and learn to sing the song. There's even an option to learn the song in Sign language, for those of you who enjoyed this at Christmas! Today we would like you to focus on the appraising section, but have a go at the other activities too.
Learn about 'Call and Response' and musical Rhythms in the fun video below 'Knees, Clap, Click'. You won't need any instruments or to sing as it is based around the Clap, Clip and Tap of the Knee. Perhaps, once you've finished following the video, you could perform a section of the rhythm using a handmade instrument or an object at home which will perform a beat such as a ball.
Thursday - PE
Try out one of the activities listed at the bottom of the Home Learning page or, alternatively, pick an active activity of your choice.
Friday - PSHE
As part of the celebration for LGBTQ+ History Month, we are going to be looking at gender stereotypes and how words used can affect people's feelings. Read the information on the Presentation and at the appropriate time (as directed in the presentation), read and reflect on the poem and complete the activity worksheet.
Friday - Spanish
This week we will be starting a new unit in Spanish! You are going to be learning how to speak about yourself by focusing on some body parts and some familiar instructions you may hear when at school. Today's lesson focuses on classroom instructions. This will be a great reminder for some of you who may have forgotten some of the instructions you hear in school! The activity is a fun game based one that we are sure you will enjoy. Read through the power point and then decide which difficulty of activity you would like to try. Remember, the sound files are on the page just below here so you will need to click on them to hear how to say each instruction. Vamos!
